Our rating:

In his breakthrough Hollywood role, the late Robin Williams stars in Barry Levinson's black comedy as DJ Adrian Cronauer, assigned to the US Armed Services Radio station in Vietnam. His outrageous quip-laden, cynical broadcasting style, matched by his choice of records, immediately lands him in hot water with the top brass; however, his popularity with the soldiers in the field saves his bacon.

But as the war comes closer to home and he becomes involved with a Vietnamese girlfriend, he is forced to take both himself and the war a little more seriously.
