Our rating:

For her delightful mystery novel, "The G-String Murders", Gypsy Rose Lee used her burlesque background to fashion a mystery tale with an alluring setting, the world of striptease artists. Barbara Stanwyck stars in this screen adaptation as an undercover detective searching for the killer who strangles strippers with their own G-strings. Real burlesque queens and vaudeville settings give this crime tale a pungently original kick.

This was Barbara Stanwyck's second portrayal of a showgirl in two years. Her first was in Ball of Fire (1941), for which she was nominated for an Oscar.

Academy Award Nomination for Best Scoring of a Dramatic or Comedy Picture.
