Our rating:

In this wisecracking romantic comedy, con artists (Laird Cregar and Spring Byington) enlist the aid of first-time crook Gene Tierney to divest a heap of cash from a handy sucker. When a simple-seeming accountant (Henry Fonda) shows up with his hard-earned savings in search of the yacht he's been dreaming of his whole life, Tierney's sent to entice him away from his money. But Fonda's not the simpleton he seems and Tierney's not the crook she might be; their new romance survives the con artists dangling a real millionaire under Tierney's nose.

This romantic comedy was Rouben Mamoulian's third picture of a three-film deal at Fox. His first two were Tyrone Power action dramas: The Mark of Zorro (1940) and Blood and Sand (1941).
