In period drama serial The Adventures of a Lady, set during the 18th Century, Lady Anne Howard is given a choice (following the murder of her husband – a crime for which she is prime suspect) of going to the gallows or becoming a spy. Naturally enough she chooses the latter.

Something of a neglected entry in the HTV canon this, little seen apart from occasional glimpses on pay tv in the mid 1990s.
