In Detective Waiting new C.I.D. rookie John Lewis is determined to bring down underworld boss James Cummins.
A good strong early dramatic role for Richard Beckinsale who at the time was also starring in sitcom The Lovers and would go on to lasting fame in Porridge. Writer Ian Kennedy Martin is the brother of Troy Kennedy Martin who would later go on to create The Sweeney (for which Ian would also write) and producer Lloyd Shirley would go on to be one of the major players in the Thames-Euston production company.
