Thriller Call Me Mr Brown took us back to 1971 when crook Peter Macari pulls off a daring raid on the Qantas airline and then embarks on a spree of wild living but the police are determined to track him down however long it takes.
Based on a true story that actually took place in Sydney in 1971. Large portions of the interior shooting were based in Adelaide, South Australia at Lips Studio in the dockside area of Port Adelaide, and wherever possible exteriors were mocked up to look like Sydney.
Call Me Mr Brown is something of an obscurity made at a time when the Australian government were offering tax breaks for private investors in movies. Quite a few production companies took advantage of this. Made as a telemovie and pre-sold to Channel 10 it was never actually screened by the network and briefly surfaced on VHS released by Home Cinema Group.
