Clear Horizon, The (CBS 1960-1962, Edward Kemmer, Phyllis Avery)

The Clear Horizon was a daytime soap that focused on Army Signal Corps Officer Roy Selby and his wife Anne after Roy was transferred to Cape Canaveral in Florida. The pair had a 10 year old son called Ricky and action in the series centred on the family getting used to their new surroundings and integrating themselves into the lives of other families on the base such as Colonel Adams. The Selby’s marriage came under strain when Anne became attracted to another man.

In 1961 the series had to all intents and purposes finished but then a little while later it returned with initially Anne struggling on her own after Roy had found himself behind enemy lines. This second run also focused more on the character of Sgt Harry Moseby and his wife Frances. By the time the series did finish for good in 1962 Roy and Anne had been re-united.
