Crime drama series Dalziel and Pascoe, based on the popular novels by Reginald Hill, saw the old fashioned, some would say gruff Superintendant Andy Dalziel (prounanced Dee-Al) teaming up with the university educated Detective Sergeant (later Inspector) Peter Pascoe. Over the course of this long running series the pair developed a real cameraderie.
Also as the series progressed we were introduced to more of the pair’s home lives, not that Andy had much of one but Peter got married to Ellie who also became an integral part of the show. There relationship did flounder for a while though with a storyline which saw Pascoe having to move in with Andy.
Initially the series aired episodes as 90 minute feature length editions but later on couldn’t seem to decide on whether 60 minutes or 90 was the best option.
