Falcon Island (Channel 9 1981, Francesca Shoesmith)

Falcon Island was a children’s action drama series. Adventures of a trio of kids on the island of the title.

The three, Kate, Paul and Jock, have ambitions to find the wreck of the seventeenth century Dutch treasure ship local people believe sank there. But just when they think they have proof of the ships existence the discovery of a valuable mineral threatens to spoil the island and destroy the wreck. The children’s search for the ship becomes a desperate race against time to save both it and their home.

Jetty scenes some beach scenes filmed at Garden Island, south of Perth. There was also a lot of filming at Rottnest Island.

Falcon Island was the first major production of the Australian Children’s Film Foundation which was set up to make shows for kids that reflected their own country’s culture.
