Hunter (Channel 9 1966-1969 with Tony Ward and Gerard Kennedy)

Australia / Channel 9 – Crawfords / 65×60 minute episodes / Broadcast 1966-69 black and white

Creator: Ian Jones / Music: Frank Smith

Spy drama series. Cases of agent John Hunter especially his dealings with the evil CUCW (the council for unification of the Communist World) and their top agent Kragg.

Rod Mullinar took over the lead role towards the end of the shows run, as the character of Kragg (the villain) became more popular the producers decided to have him defect to the west to become more of the hero.

A series very much trying to tap into the mid sixties vogue for all things spy, kind of like a cross between The Man from Uncle and Callan.
