I Know Where I’m Going! | 1945 | Wendy Hiller, Roger Livesey

Cupid plays tricks on a young woman on her way to the Scottish Hebrides to marry a rich lord. Instead, she loses her heart to a young naval officer. This smart, witty romantic comedy of manners is notable for an early screen appearance by Petula Clark. Features a stunning, surreal dream sequence and a haunting score based on indigenous folk music. This was the ninth collaboration between Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger. Beautifully filmed on location in Scotland. Unlike the other key actors in I Know Where I’m Going, Roger Livesy, who was starring in a London stage play at the time, never went on location to Scotland for the film. His indoor scenes were filmed in a studio and his outdoor scenes were photographed with a double in long shots.
