Inside Man, The (ITV 1969, Frederick Jaegar, Robin Ellis)

Intriguing crime drama series The Inside Man focused on the work of criminologist Dr James Austin who is drafted into working for the British government on cases usually involving defecting Russian diplomats or members of the secret service who have returned from the Eastern bloc damaged in some way or with secrets to hide. Austin’s skill gave him a particular knack to get right to the heart of the matter.

The series gave the likable Frederick Jaegar a rare leading man role and a young Robin Ellis was amongst the supporting cast. Guest stars included the likes of Ralph Bates, Patricia Haines, Dinsdale Landen and Suzan Farmer.
