Last Bastion, The (Channel 10 1984, John Wood, Robert Vaughn)

Mini-series The Last Bastion was made in the early 1980′s when Australia was King of the genre, this lavish production was set in 1941 and focused on the people of Australia as they readied themselves for hard times when it looks as if the Japanese might invade.

A fabulous cast was assembled including some big international names in the shape of Robert Vaughan and Timothy West who gave us another of is spot on impersonations of Winston Churchill. Watch out too for Playschool’s John Hamblin as prime minister Anthony Eden.
