NBC Sports will present live coverage of the 150th Preakness Stakes from Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland, on Saturday, May 17, with race coverage beginning at 4:00 PM ET. This year’s event marks a significant milestone as the final Preakness to be run at the historic track before it undergoes a major demolition and redevelopment project.
Following this year’s race, the Preakness Stakes will temporarily relocate to Laurel Park in 2026. Plans call for the prestigious event to return to a newly upgraded Pimlico facility in 2027. The Preakness Stakes, known as “The Run for the Black-Eyed Susans,” is the second jewel in horse racing’s Triple Crown.
Key contenders shaping up for the 150th running include Journalism, the morning-line favorite at 8-5 after a second-place finish in the 2025 Kentucky Derby. Sandman, winner of the Arkansas Derby (G1) and seventh in the Kentucky Derby, is also in the field. Clever Again, victorious in the 2025 Hot Springs Stakes (LS), and River Thames, runner-up in the 2025 Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2), are among the other notable entries.
