Night and Day | ITV Daytime Soap (2001-2003) | Georgina Walker, Lysette Anthony

Night and Day was a UK-produced daytime soap that aired on ITV1 from 2001 to 2003. The show initially ran for 30-minute episodes and then 60-minute episodes.

The storyline revolved around a couple of families with intertwined lives. The show had a slightly surreal touch with fantasy sequences. The main plot followed the disappearance of 16-year-old Jane Harper after the first week of episodes. Jane was only seen in flashback sequences thereafter.

Initially, the show aired thrice-weekly at 5pm, with a late-night omnibus edition that contained more adult material. However, due to poor ratings, the daytime showing was dropped after a few months, and it was only aired in a late-night 60-minute slot. Despite this, the show never fully embraced the post-watershed format, reflecting the late-night timeslot.

Night and Day concluded with its final episode on June 5, 2003. The plotlines were resolved by moving forward four years to see how things had turned out. The theme song of the show was sung by Kylie Minogue.

The main characters included Georgina Walker as Jane Harper, Lysette Anthony as Roxanne Doyle, Joe McGann as Alex Wells, Lesley Joseph as Rachel Culgrin, Glynis Barber as Fiona Brake, Cathy Tyson as Steph McKenzie, Sally Dexter as Natalie Harper, Stephanie Leonidas as Della Wells, and Bradley Walsh as Woody.
