Nine will consolidate its television, streaming, and subscription businesses into a single structure from Tuesday, July 1, with Amanda Laing appointed Managing Director of the newly formed division.
The move brings together Channel 9, 9Now, and Stan—alongside Wide World of Sports and Stan Sport—under a unified leadership model for the first time. It forms a central pillar of the company’s long-range Nine2028 strategy, which targets revenue growth through greater platform integration and operational alignment.
Laing, who joined Nine earlier this year, now oversees the full entertainment and content pipeline across both ad-supported and subscription services. Key leadership roles have been confirmed, including Michael Healy as Executive Director – Entertainment and Cailah Scobie as Executive Director – Entertainment Content Acquisitions. Fiona Dear remains in charge of News & Current Affairs, while Brent Williams will lead the merged production unit across sports.
The restructure also sharpens Nine’s commercial accountability. Hamish Turner will take on full P+L responsibility for Channel 9, its multi-channels, and 9Now. Dan Taylor will do the same for Stan, signalling its continued positioning as a growth driver. The radio division, led by Tom Malone, remains unchanged.
Strategically, this streamlining positions Nine to compete more effectively with hybrid local rivals such as Foxtel/BINGE and global players like Netflix, while reducing internal content duplication and enabling cross-platform commissioning. The introduction of new C-level roles—including Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Marketing Officer for Streaming and Broadcast—indicates a focused push on brand and audience development across digital and linear.
This marks Nine’s most significant internal restructure since its merger with Fairfax. By consolidating decision-making under a single leadership lens, the company is signalling a shift away from siloed media management and toward a more agile, platform-agnostic future.
