The competition intensifies as the remaining teams on Race Across the World reach northern India, marking the halfway point of their journey. Episode 5 airs Wednesday, 21 May at 9:00 PM BST on BBC One.
Their next challenge is a demanding 1,500km trek to the fifth checkpoint: McLeod Ganj, nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas. This destination, known for its temples, ashrams, significant Tibetan population, and as the home of the Dalai Lama, will require the pairs to ascend nearly 7,000 feet into the mountains.
Continuing to travel without flights or smartphones, the contestants must manage their limited budgets and find ways to earn more money if their funds run low, relying on their resourcefulness and ability to immerse themselves in local cultures.
