SBS, in partnership with NITV and Screen Australia, is continuing its commitment to unearthing diverse Australian voices with the upcoming slate for its Digital Originals program. Three new scripted series—Moonbird, Warm Props, and Moni—are set to premiere weekly from mid-June on NITV and stream on SBS On Demand.
The initiative serves as a key development pipeline for emerging Australian screen creatives, focusing on those from First Nations, culturally diverse, LGBTIQ+, and regional backgrounds. The new lineup includes two First Nations narratives and one centered on queer Pasifika-Australian experiences, underscoring the program’s brief to champion underrepresented storytellers.
This year’s series continue the Digital Originals’ track record of fostering talent and creating impactful content. Moonbird explores unique cultural journeys, Warm Props delves into community connections, and Moni offers fresh perspectives on identity.
The Digital Originals program has consistently proven its value as an industry launchpad, with previous projects and alumni garnering industry recognition and advancing their careers both in Australia and internationally. Executives from the partner organizations emphasize the initiative’s role in reflecting contemporary Australian society through authentic and engaging narratives.
All Digital Originals series will be available with subtitles in multiple languages on SBS On Demand, broadening accessibility.
