Action adventure series Sea Hunt was very popular but never actually picked up by a network. It concerned the exploits of Mike Nelson who was an undersea investigator, a one time navy frogman Mike was fully equipped to work for the government, insurance companies and the like, thanks to his boat The Argonaut.
Much of the action actually took place underwater and was filmed in plenty of exotic places such as The Caribbean and Southern California. Although much of the action sequences were filmed in an Aquarium aquarium California’s Marineland park in Palos Verdes.
Lloyd Bridges as Mike Nelson was the only regular cast member and each episode cost some $40,000 making it at the time one of the most expensive shows on the air.
Technical advisors on the show included Jon Lindburgh (son of aviator Charles) and underwater photography was by Lamar Boren.
There was a brief one season revival in 1987 in which Mike Nelson was played by former Tarzan Ron Ely, in this Nelson also had a daughter Jennifer (played by Kimber Sissons).
