Tales Out Of School was a quartet of very well remembered plays from the pen of David Leland that lifted the lid on the British education system and wasn’t overly impressed with what it found. The opener Birth of a Nation took us in a comprehensive school that is on the verge of collapse. Flying Into The Wind looked at home schooling. Rhino was a very disturbing look at what happens when one troubled teenage girl refuses to conform. Finally Made in Britain (directed by Alan Clarke) was about a disenfranchised teenage skinhead.
The casts included the likes of a young Tim Roth as the skinhead in Made in Britain, Jim Broadbent, Robert Stephens and Graham Crowden.
