Will You Love Me Tomorrow (BBC-2 1987, Joanne Whalley, Phil Daniels)

In drama Will You Love Me Tomorrow Jackie and Debs are two young women who hitch a lift with two men who take them to the Welsh seaside town of Rhyl. What the men don’t know is that the women are both escaped prisoners. Jackie is a notorious killer who has been in prison since the age of 10 for killing her aunt’s three children and her first taste of freedom in the adult world is daunting for her.

Will You Love Me Tomorrow, which was based on a true story, has lived long in the memory of the smallish audience who were lucky enough to see it. One of its chief plus points is the excellent young cast which includes the likes of Phil Daniels and a young Iain Glen. Has a strong air of melancholia hanging over it which adds greatly to its impact. Rebecca Sowden is these days better known as Rebecca Callard, whilst her mother Beverly had a small role as a policewoman.
